I consider the novel as an immense success as expressing the situation in Germany and describing how it was to live in that period as a neutral, innocent child with a straight opposite parent. It articulated Bruno’s innocence and feelings incredibly and as well realistic. When Bruno continues to visit Shmuel, you can clearly see the distinctive contrast between a native German and a Jew at that time especially the way people visually examined them and how they treated them differently. Gretel reveals how numerous Germans were brainwashed by newspapers, family, and mentors, for instance how she changes opinion quickly after a talk with Herr Liszt. Pavel takes an important role in the story, a required role to gradually educate Bruno about how the Jews went day by day by telling him how Jews got taken away their careers and lives, just to peel potatoes for Germans. After understanding increasingly more, Bruno finally decides to do something which leads to the ending, where his father finally realizing the mistake he had made, and therefore he had to pay an expensive price for the lesson.

I think the ending is reasonable and right. For a person that is not concerned for others except their loved ones in this case Bruno’s father to experience how it is to lose one whom he loves is a good resolution for a novel, because he has been perpetually mistreating and taking away others loved ones. The ending punishes Bruno’s father for what he has done, what he has ignored, and what he has supported. The story develops nicely and keeps the reader’s attention and the desire to read further with a glaringly obvious crescendo in action. Even if the ending was rather sad, I believe it still was a delightful and brilliant finale. This Novel was overall a stunning, glorious and wonderful experience for the reader.
