Creative writing task I consider the novel as an immense success as expressing the situation in Germany and describing how it was to live in that period as a neutral, innocent child with a straight opposite parent. It articulated Bruno’s innocence and feelings incredibly and as well realistic. When Bruno continues to visit Shmuel, you can clearly see the distinctive contrast between a native German and a Jew at that time especially the way people visually examined them and how they treated them differently. Gretel reveals how numerous Germans were brainwashed by newspapers, family, and mentors, for instance how she changes opinion quickly after a talk with Herr Liszt. Pavel takes an important role in the story, a required role to gradually educate Bruno about how the Jews went day by day by telling him how Jews got taken away their careers and lives, just to peel potatoes for Germans.
